As executive director, Erin's focus includes strategic planning, programs, partnerships, and operations of the Microbiome Center. Erin works closely with faculty and scientists across the three institutions to develop collaborative research programs that cross common boundaries. Previously, Erin was part of Arete in the Office of the Vice President for Research and National Laboratories at the University of Chicago and worked with faculty to launch new complex research initiatives, including the Microbiome Center. At the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition, Erin established a new organization and managed partners from academia, private industry, K-12 education, the philanthropic community, and national labs who together launched a statewide STEM education program. In the past, Erin worked as a clinical social worker serving families and building inter-disciplinary programs to improve client outcomes. Erin has an M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from Wheaton College.
