Environmental Sample Preparation and Sequencing Facility
Argonne National Laboratory
Sarah M. Owens is the technical director of the Environmental Sample Preparation and Sequencing facility at Argonne National Laboratory. Sarah was instrumental in trouble-shooting the application of 16S rRNA-based amplicon sequencing for the Illumina HiSeq and MiSeq, developing reproducible protocols in collaboration with Illumina’s Research and Development. She continues to guide researchers in applying targeted amplicon techniques in their own laboratories. In addition, Sarah consults researchers on experimental design, nucleic acid extraction protocols, and shotgun metagenomic protocols to generate the next-generation sequencing data most suitable for answering the questions associated with their metagenomic studies.
