Everett Vokes

Everett E. Vokes, MD, is the John E. Ultmann Professor, Chair of Department of Medicine, and Physician in Chief at University of Chicago Medicine.  He is an accomplished clinical and translational investigator who has brought together clinical and scientific multimodality teams to address complex solid tumors leading to improved treatment outcomes. He is known for his work in the biology and treatment of lung and head and neck cancer. His work on concomitant chemoradiation has contributed to increased cure rates and spared many patients from radical surgery. He also established the intellectual and clinical basis of national trials investigating concomitant chemoradiotherapy and other approaches to curative intent multispecialty care. He is an elected member of the ASCI and AAP. He has earned recognition on numerous "best doctor" lists and as one of the first awardees of American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Translational Research Professorship.   In 2014, he was named a Giant of Cancer Care by OncLive. He served as Principal Investigator of the University of Chicago’s NCI funded Phase II network from 1994-2009 (now Co-PI) and has been influential in national settings within Cancer and Leukemia Group B (now Alliance) where he chairs the Respiratory Committee.
