Yanchun Li obtained his Ph.D. degree from Kent State University in 1991 and completed his postdoctoral training at MIT and Harvard Medical School in 1997. Dr. Li joined the faculty of Department of Medicine, the University of Chicago as an assistant professor in 1998, was promoted to associate professor in 2005 and associate professor with tenure in 2010. He is also a member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and Kovler Diabetes Center at University of Chicago. Dr. Li’s lab studies the regulation of mucosal inflammation, and is especially interested in understanding how micronutrients (e.g. vitamins, lipids, glucose) and conditions of metabolic dysregulation (e.g. diabetes, hyperlipidemia) influence intestinal homeostasis under various pathological conditions.
